My First Dive Into Filmmaking
My journey into Filmmaking truly began to take shape when I joined the BFI Academy. It was there that I discovered how much more goes into creating a film than just pressing record. From learning the technical side of cinematography to understanding the role of every team member, the experience opened my eyes to the depth of filmmaking. With each project, I’ve learned new skills and gained a deeper appreciation for the art of storytelling.
One of the most significant changes I’ve experienced through filmmaking is the boost in my confidence. Before diving into this world, I often doubted my abilities and hesitated to put myself forward. But through hands-on experience with the BFI Academy, I’ve learned to trust my skills and take risks. This process has pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone and made me realize that confidence is built through action and persistence.
The overall process was intense but incredibly rewarding. We spent several weeks in pre - production developing ideas, refining scripts, planning shots, and preparing everything needed to bring the story to life. It was a true team effort. When it came to the production weekend, the pace picked up massively - long days, lots of focus, and constant problem solving. But seeing all that planning come together on set was one of the most satisfying parts of the experience. It really showed me how important the preparation stage is, and how much can be achieved in a short space of time.
